WHAT IS THE C.A.S.T. ACADEMY? 

C.A.S.T. (Collinwood Academic School of Technology) is a program designed to provide students with current computer technology skills that are currently being used by businesses.

CAST is taught by an expience web2.0 educator that follows the 21st century tecnology standards to provide students with a high performance based education. The curricula consists of utilizing computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web 2.0 tools, online collaboration, and FrontPage/Dreamweaver.  The community, businesses and schools work together to build and design the best curriculum possible.

 

WHAT TYPE OF STUDENTS WOULD BE BEST SERVICED IN C.A.S.T.?

C.A.S.T. is ideal for serious individuals interested in applying, designing, and implementing various levels of technology skills used in today's business world. 

 

WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR C.A.S.T. STUDENTS?

C.A.S.T. students are required to complete 240 hours of mandatory specialized training and may choose among the following areas: Junior Achievement Training, Core Ability Training, Various Competitive Events, or Volunteer Services. In addition, students participate in several of the following programs:  Business Professional of America, Tech Prep Seminars, non-paid work experiences, and Post-Secondary Enrollment Options. 

 

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS THAT I CAN GAIN FROM THIS PROGRAM?

Students who have completed the four-year program are offered the opportunity to get college credits for the courses they have taken during the program.  The college credits are attainable through Cuyahoga Community College.  Students also are offered the opportunity to take a certification test and if they pass, they become certified in Microsoft Office Applications.
